A hundred shooters make their way to Cody, Wyoming, August 7 – 9, 2014, for the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s 21st Annual Buffalo Bill Invitational Shootout. Held in cooperation with the Cody Shooting Complex, the Shootout benefits the Cody Firearms Museum at the Center of the West.
The Shootout is a 350-target shoot for both individual and team shooters. Competitors of all skill levels shoot skeet, trap, five-stand, and sporting clays with all gauges of shotguns, competing for award in three categories: Top Gun, Top Discipline Shooter, and Top Team. Extraordinary prizes and a silent auction are also on tap, along with a Steak and Seafood awards dinner for participants on Saturday, August 9.
All prizes for Shootout are awarded on a Lewis class system with a minimum of four classes. Competition begins at 9 a.m. Friday, August 8 at the Cody Shooting Complex, approximately five miles north of Cody on Wyoming Highway 120, and continues through Saturday. Spectators are welcome at the competition, which takes place regardless of weather.
Shootout registration begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, August 7, at the Center of the West, with a cocktail party for shooters and their guests, as well as a Calcutta, with teams determined on a random draw basis.
