With winter winding down, the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, shifts gears and starts getting ready for the upcoming tourist season. This year, the Center invites attendees at its next Family Fun Day to help with the preparations—and have fun in the process. The Center’s “Spring Fling” Family Fun Day takes place Friday, March 18 from 3 – 7 p.m.
“As we prep for spring and the many summer visitors soon to arrive, we have lots to do!” says Interpretive Specialist Emily Buckle. Participants in the Spring Fling get a glimpse behind the scenes and find out what goes into freshening exhibits in the Center’s museums, including cleaning and maintaining objects.
Buckles notes, “We’re asking families attending Family Fun Day to help us create a fun and festive spring mural.” She adds, “They’ll even have the opportunity to design a miniature exhibit themselves—creating a theme, writing labels, and placing objects.” Activities are on-going throughout the event.
The Family Fun Day also includes an update on the Center’s plans for a new playground, scheduled to be build this coming summer in one of the gardens on the grounds. The evening includes a complimentary family-friendly dinner for participants from 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Thanks to a grant from the R. Harold Burton Foundation, Family Fun Days are free for Buffalo Bill Center of the West member families, and just $10 for non-member families.
