Wyoming artist Sarah Shearer shares her expertise at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, July 31–August 4, to inspire young budding artists to unleash their creative minds. This weeklong day camp accommodates sessions for two age groups: children 6–9 years of age meet from 9–11 a.m. each day, and older students ages 10–12 meet from 1–4 p.m. in the Center’s classroom.
Shearer was born and raised in Wyoming, where she discovered her passion for art at an early age. She received her bachelor of fine arts at the University of Wyoming and later earned her master of fine arts at Louisiana State University. She is currently an adjunct professor at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming.
“I love teaching at the Center of the West because of all the great visual resources throughout every single museum and outside. Plus the new playground is a great place for a break from the classroom,” Shearer notes.
During this art class, students focus on analogous colors and textures. Shearer provides young artists with several opportunities to use a variety of media with numerous projects.
Space is limited, and tickets for Shearer’s art workshops sell quickly. Advanced registration is required; individuals interested in the workshop can visit tickets.centerofthewest.org and click “Colorful Creations” to purchase tickets. The cost of the workshop is $30 per student for Buffalo Bill Center of the West members and $35 for non-members.
