About our speaker:
From an early age, Clay Gibbons was interested in the history of the Old West. In 1976 he met Bob Edgar, a man he had admired for years. Bob became a close friend and mentor. Eventually Bob asked Clay to be on the board of the Museum of the Old West (a 501(c)3 who later purchased the private interest in Old Trail Town) and he served as president for several years.
Clay’s interest turned into a passion fueled by the desire to learn all he could about specific events that had occurred in his part of Wyoming. There were battles, sheep raids, ghost towns, trails, and sites that were overlooked and soon to be forgotten that Clay began to research. This endeavor soon branched out as he was able to determine the exact locations of some of Wyoming’s most interesting historical sites. He has now researched, located, and raised the funds for five State Historical Markers in northern Wyoming.
