PAST EXHIBITION:Eight Seconds: Black Cowboys in America explored the American Cowboy through the lens of acclaimed photographer Ivan B. McClellan. Cowboys are fluid figures represented by many genders, races, and cultures — and they’re more diverse than ever before. This special exhibit was on display in the Center’s Duncan Special Exhibition Gallery from May 7, 2021, to January 7, 2022.

About the artist
Ivan McClellan is a Portland, Oregon-based photographer and designer with work that has been featured in ESPN: The Undefeated, Dazed, Atmos, Huck, Fast Company, and Juxtapoz. He has also headed creative campaigns for Wrangler, Stetson, Boot Barn, Tecovas, Nike, Adidas, U.S. National Soccer, Oregon Ducks, and Disney. McClellan’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries across the country including, Oklahoma Contemporary, B.J. Spoke Gallery, ilon Art Gallery, and The New York Center for Photographic Art. He has spoken on The Moth mainstage and appeared on the Mountain and Prairie podcast and The Real Photo Show. Ivan is a husband and father of two children.
