Draper Museum Raptor Experience

Meet our live birds of prey up close

The Draper Museum Raptor Experience is a live raptor education program that allows us to share some of our area’s most spectacular wild animals with visitors. Get an up-close-and-personal view of some of Wyoming’s most recognized predators, the birds of prey.

Our program schedule

The raptor program’s regular schedule is as follows. Please join us to learn about a few of our birds at each of these daily programs!

September 3–November 30, 1 p.m. daily
March 1–May 26, 1 p.m. daily
May 26–September 1, 10 a.m. & 3 p.m. daily

Meet our birds

How did each of our birds come to live with us and help us educate our visitors about raptors?
Click on each bird’s name to learn more about them!

The birds of the Draper Museum Raptor Experience

The perfect gift for the nature-loving kid in your life!

Do you know someone who loves birds or nature? Want to give an educational gift instead of just a toy? Want to make a difference with your gift? We have the answer for you! The Draper Museum Raptor Experience has a limited number of Kids’ Adoption Kits available.

Each kit comes with a 12-inch plush bird, a small plush prey item, a reference book about the species, care instructions for the bird, and an official adoption certificate.

Kits are available in Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Turkey Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, and Great Horned Owl. Each kit is $75 (includes shipping) and all proceeds go to care for the Avian Ambassadors at the Draper Museum Raptor Experience.

These are the perfect gift for the bird-loving kid and kid-at-heart in your life!

Draper Museum Raptor Experience Blog

Some of our resident “Raptor Wranglers,” both staff and volunteers, are also bloggers, and they have a lot of knowledge about birds—and  the joy and peril of presenting public programs with live birds—to share!

The Draper Museum Raptor Experience is funded in part by the Nancy-Carroll Draper Foundation, the William H. Donner Foundation, and the Donner Canadian Foundation—the latter in partnership with the University of Wyoming’s Biodiversity Institute.

Adopt-a-Raptor Program

You can help us sustain the Draper Museum Raptor Experience through our Adopt-a-Raptor program. Donations feed and care for our amazing birds, allowing you to play a role in our commitment to keep our flock healthy with the highest quality food, vitamins, housing, and medical care—for the rest of their lives. We currently have two Adoption Levels with different benefits, so choose the one that’s right for you:

$5–$75 Adoption Level: you receive an adoption certificate, “Talon Tidbit” fact sheet, bookmark, and sticker

$75 and above Adoption Level: you receive Kids Adoption Kit (includes 12-inch plush bird, a prey animal plush, bookmark, reference book, care instructions, and a drawstring carry bag).
Kit options are: golden eagle, peregrine falcon, turkey vulture, red-tailed hawk, and great horned owl.

Use the form below to sign up for our Adopt-a-Raptor program and support our birds.
