The Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is the sixth consecutive time that the Center of the West has earned this top distinction—Charity Navigator’s highest rating.
“We are so pleased to have received this rating from Charity Navigator,” says Peter S. Seibert, the Center of the West’s Executive Director and CEO. “It is a wonderful re-affirmation that we are holding ourselves to the highest standards among all non-profits.”
Seibert continues, “As a charity, the Center is dependent upon the support of friends in the community who value the many activities that we undertake in support of our mission.” The rating from Charity Navigator serves to assure supporters that their donations to the museum are used as they intended.
Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added several additional metrics to its ratings methodology—focusing on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness.
According to Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator, “The Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s exceptional rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public. Based on the 4-star rating, people who decide to support the Center can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity.”
