The War Bonnet

Sharp's sales ledgers for 1916 record a painting titled War Bonnet selling for $350 to Wyoming Governor John B. Kendrick through Herbert A. Coffeen who was a noted photographer and operated the TeePee Shop in Sheridan, WY. (Sharp Papers)  An undated Hotel Gibson Catalogue of Indian and Western Paintings brochure (1916) has The War Bonnet listed as number 22. That painting is probably this one, #16. There was also a very similar oil titled The Old War Bonnet that was acquired by the Santa Fe Railway in 1916. (related image, #16b)
