The Enchanted Mesa

Sharp had painted this mesa as early as 1906 as a small study of the scene appeared in New York at the Fishel, Adler & Schwartz Galleries in December of that year. It was titled The Mesa Encantada, N. M. (see related image, #641) Given the inscription with the signature, this large, far more chromatic canvas was not completed until almost a decade later, in 1915.
