Lame Bull, Gros Ventre; [Chief Lame Bull]

Penciled on verso: Gros-Ventre Chief Lame Bull - 1897-9 - One of the older Chiefs and tribal leaders. Kindly, firm and resolute, he was greatly loved and respected. I seldom came in contact with any of the old Indians but [sic] had the same fine character - human.

It is not known when Sharp painted among the Gros Ventre Indians.  The signature type would date this painting around 1905.
