Sharp told a Cincinnati reporter in 1933 that he considered Mount Fuji to be "glorious" and "the loveliest mountain and most perfect cone in the world." He made six or eight sketches on the mountain, of which this is one. (unidentified Cincinnati newspaper clipping, 11/27/1933, Sharp Papers)
