Inscribed on verso: Tribal ceremonials at Pine Ridge. Chief Short Bull, a great Chief and medicine man, whom I consider a much smarter man than Sitting Bull and not such a coward, had a great round up - "Boiled Dog Feast" The squaws are preparing it. The Interpreter failed to tell me, fearing it would offend the ladies. Later Short Bull asked me why "no come." Then I sailed into the interpreter. I would have eaten boiled dog with Short Bull if I threw up my soul
