Pre-K Programs
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is a great place to explore and learn! We invite all area preschools to the Center at NO CHARGE this school year. We will even provide a tour for the group (see below)! If you are working on a specific project or topic, let us know! We can modify a tour to meet the learning needs of your class.
What Animals Eat
Animals in the Yellowstone Ecosystem eat a variety of foods. On this tour, students learn what it means to be an herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore. They also begin to explore what a healthy diet for humans can look like.
Tour Length: 45 minutes
Let’s Make Music
Music is integral to human culture. During this tour, students learn how sounds turn into music, and how music is created and expressed in many different ways. Students learn the sounds animals make; they explore the music-making instruments European immigrants brought with them and adapted when they moved into the area; and they learn the instruments the Indigenous peoples of the area use to make music.
Tour length: 45 minutes
Little Explorer’s Art Tour
Designed to engage young minds, this tour through the Whitney Western Art Museum helps preschoolers appreciate different forms of art. Students participate in activities that help them describe and interpret art, as well as learn to develop an individual opinion on chosen pieces in the museum.
Tour length: 45 minutes
Animal Families and Homes
Animal families come in all shapes and sizes, just like human families do! Students on this tour learn about different family structures that exist among our animal neighbors. Students begin to understand some of the different roles the animals have in raising young, providing food for the families, and making their homes.
Tour length: 45 minutes
