Aspens—Twining

This brilliant aspen-filled landscape appears to be a plein air study that relates to a larger work, Morning in the Aspen Forest,  painted in 1935 and exhibited at the Kreimer & Brother Co. galleries in Cincinnati that fall. (see related image, #24) Aspens-Twining relates even more directly to a work of the same size but with an Indian figure included, John in the Aspens, #693.
