This painting was first exhibited as Morning in Aspen Forest in Cincinnati at Kreimer & Brother, Co. in November 1935.  The exhibit was titled Hawaiian and Taos Paintings.

 

Sharp's sales ledgers indicate that Gilcrease purchased this landscape directly from the artist in January 1950. (Sharp Papers)
