Deluxe Exclusive Tours: Women’s Handwork in the West II

March 14, 2026, 1-4 PM

Back by popular demand! Join Exclusive Tours on Saturday, March 14th at 1pm for Women’s Handwork in the West II, a Deluxe Exclusive Tours event at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

Once again explore how women’s hands shaped the history of the American West, crafting both survival and art in every stitch!

The 2026 program features several women artisans including expert craftswomen Cody Woodward of CM’s Leather & Customs and Hunter Old Elk, Curator of the Plains Indian Museum. Cody will talk about the history and describe the techniques of leatherworking including tooling and stitching. Hunter will be sharing the history and culture of Native American beading, particularly handwork indigenous to this area of the country. Both artisans will have tables featuring their individual handwork for viewing and items for purchase.

Returning this year will also be Karista Lowe of Cody’s own Wyoming Yarn & Fiber with a table display of some unique women’s handwork items that represent the West and specialty yarns from her shop for purchase. Dr. Karen St. Clair, Exclusive Tours Assistant, will also return to host participants in exploring the history and modern role of these particular Women’s Handwork in the West, as well as give a presentation on the disappearing handcraft of tatting.

During the program, Exclusive Tours staff will bring groups of participants behind the scenes to view handwork treasures from our own Center of the West vaults featuring leatherwork, Native American beading, and the tatting handwork of Louisa Cody, the wife of Buffalo Bill.

Tickets for this program include the guest’s choice of receiving either a leather kit or a beading kit curated by our guest speakers. After the main program ends, participants can try their own hand at recreating historic textiles with these curated handcraft kits. An offering of a variety of teas, small desserts, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for participants to enjoy during this crafting time.

Don´t miss this exciting and exclusive afternoon!

This Deluxe Exclusive Tour is $60 per person, and just $55 for Center of the West members. Spots are limited! Advanced registration is required.
