This two-day workshop blends culture, ecology, and action, guiding you through the traditions and techniques of this timeless sport—all set against the stunning backdrop of the Shoshone River.
♦ Day 1 unfolds at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Meet expert guides and guest speakers who’ll cover topics like trout biodiversity, ecological conservation, and museum ethics. Practice casting techniques and explore fly selection—learning which flies best entice trout and why.
♦ Day 2 brings you to the scenic banks of the Shoshone River for a fully guided fly fishing experience. Our seasoned instructors will lead you through the basics: casting, water reading, and locating ideal fishing spots. Whether you’re new to the sport or brushing up your skills, this riverside session offers plenty of personal guidance.
This immersive experience goes beyond technique—offering a rare glimpse into the culture and history that shaped fly fishing and its deep roots in the American West. Expect light walking, time in and around water, and exposure to the elements—so dress appropriately!
Tickets include snacks, water, and use of fishing gear (feel free to bring your own).
Shared transportation to the river available.
A valid fishing license is required and can be purchased at the event.
