Robert NeVille Richard’s life is a remarkable blend of diverse experiences. Born and raised on a ranch in northwestern Wyoming, Bob’s deep roots in the West run strong. His background includes ranching, business, and service as a decorated USMC combat aviator in Vietnam. He also spent 21 years coordinating American Red Cross relief efforts in the western U.S.
As the founder and operator of Grub Steak Expeditions for 37 years, Bob personally guided thousands through Yellowstone’s majestic landscapes and ecosystem. Educated at the Universities of Wyoming, Arizona, and California (Fresno), he has also worked as a teacher and school administrator.
Bob is a published author of five books, professional photographer, licensed fishing and hiking guide, historian, and an active member of the Cody community. At 85, he remains a passionate outdoorsman, wildlife photographer, and a recognized authority on Yellowstone National Park.
