An Indian Encampment at Sunset

This small oil study presents a Crow camp pitched just south of Sharp's studio at Crow Agency. It was a favorite scene for the artist who gloried in the visual power of the sunlit canvas lodges and the backdrop of huge summer cottonwood trees that grew at the edge of the Little Big Horn River beyond.
