This life-size oil portrait of the Spanish king Philip IV’s son was painted at the Prado Museum in 1895 after a painting by Diego Velazquez and exhibited in the Cincinnati Art Museum the following year.  The prince was described as being fifteen years old at the time of the original sitting.
