Penciled on cardboard backing: Big Beaver - Blackfeet - 1898-1900 Blackfeet not all warriors except with adjoining tribes but many men great horse raiders - going as far as  Crow Reservation.

 

According to extant exhibition records, Sharp painted among the Big Beaver family around 1905.  This would conform with the painting's style and the signature type.
