Rising Fire was a Cheyenne man whom Sharp painted at least twice in about 1900. Another portrait of Rising Fire belongs to the Phoebe Hearst Museum. (see related image, #142) One of the two paintings was exhibited in Sharp’s Special Exhibition of Indian Portraits at the Cincinnati Museum in 1900.
