Little Wolf - Cheyenne

In a note to Frank Phillips about this work, Sharp wrote that this, the younger Laban Little Wolf, had supposedly served as second in command of the Cheyenne forces at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. He did not. His famous uncle of the same last name had played an indirect role in the battle though. (see #s 140 and 140a) When Sharp knew Laban after 1900, he was regarded by the artist as "lovable in character and a most trusted friend." (Woolaroc archives)
