Leaf Down at Studio Door

Despite the fact that inscriptions associated with this work indicate that Sharp gave this painting to Thomas Gilcrease in 1948, the style and palette do not suggest that it was painted at that time specifically for the artist's patron.  Leaf Down was Crucita's daughter and Sharp began painting her in the late 1920s.  This lovely oil shows her as a young woman, so it is probably dated around 1928.
