Standing Deer, Taos

Penciled on dust cover: Standing Deer – Taos 1918-19.  Standing Deer was one of Sharp’s earliest sitters.  Two portraits of him were exhibited in 1900 at the Cincinnati Museum and in 1901 at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC.

 

Sharp made two prints of Standing Deer that reflects the same thoughtful expression as seen in the oil portrait here. (related images, #490a and 490b)
