Apache Ambush; [Apache Ambush, Arizona]

Penciled on dust cover: Apache Ambush Arizona. Penciled on frame: APACHE AMBUSH Moonlight, Arizona.

Sharp painted other fanciful genre scenes in the mid-1940s such as the oil On the Little Bighorn which carries an equally imaginative title. (related image, # 507) Sharp's painting of about 1913, Mesa Reptiles, may be something of a prototype for this work.  (see related image, #563)
