According to Sharp's records, this work was first exhibited in 1923 and 1924 as War Bonnet Song at Traxel's Art Gallery in Cincinnati, and then as The War Bonnet Song at The Schroeder Galleries in Pasadena, CA in 1927 at the Traxel Art Galleries. In the latter display, it was presented alongside a similar, though less rosy, composition, The War Chief's Story of the Robe. (#38)
