Portrait of Crow Girl in Elk Tooth Dress

Sharp relished in painting Indian children and their embellished garments. This portrait of an unknown Crow girl was exemplary of such portrait work from the period of 1900 - 1910.

Sharp's records note a sale to Fra Dana in the fall of 1914 of a work he simply describes as "Head." (sales ledgers, Sharp Papers) It may be this work. The Danas often visited the Sharps at Crow Agency.  This may have been purchased out of the artist's inventory.
