Internships
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West offers several internships for college students each summer! Available internships typically include everything from curation, to marketing, to tour guiding, to caring for and presenting programs about raptors. Internships are 10 weeks, pay $12.50 per hour, and include a $750 housing stipend. Click the button below for details.
Resident Fellowships
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West offers a limited number of resident fellowships each year for scholars doing original research that advance knowledge, understanding, and passion about the extraordinary cultural and natural heritage of the American West and its timeless and global relevance. Information Technology Technician
Title: Information Technology Technician
Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Director of Information Services
Status: Exempt / Full-Time
Summary
Provides user support and training; maintains and installs computer hardware, software, and network components; identifies and resolves system problems; and supports infrastructure software and hardware across the organization.
Job Duties
Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computer hardware and software.
Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wired and wireless network infrastructure.
Respond to user questions, inquiries, and requests.
Maintain network and data integrity and security.
Support audio-visual systems.
Collaborate with other staff and contractors to develop solutions supporting departmental needs.
Maintain a consistent and reliable schedule within Center hours.
Keep accurate notes on all projects and IT work.
Proactively communicate project status to supervisor and affected staff.
Competencies
Ability to prioritize and organize work across multiple simultaneous projects.
Strong customer service orientation and communication skills with non-technical staff.
Self-directed and proactive, using downtime for long-term projects that support departmental goals.
Technical competency in:
Windows operating systems (servers and clients)
Microsoft enterprise management tools
Microsoft Office 365
Local area networks
Firewalls
Backup and restore systems
Audio-visual components and control systems
Printer care and maintenance
PowerShell
Microsoft VBA
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum one year of experience supporting diverse hardware and software environments.
