Apsáalooke Push Dance with Johnny Tim Yellowtail

Join the Buffalo Bill Center of the West for a special Artist-in-Residence program featuring Apsáalooke (Crow) singer and Heart Mountain Interpretive Center Historic Site Caretaker Johnny Tim Yellowtail.
Yellowtail will be joined by a fellow performers for an engaging and interactive Push Dance workshop from 2:30–4:30 p.m. The Push Dance is a traditional Apsáalooke social dance commonly performed at powwows, celebrations, and community gatherings. Accompanied by live singing and drumming, the dance reflects the importance of community, participation, and cultural expression.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the history and significance of the Push Dance, experience live performances, and gain insight into Apsáalooke traditions through conversation and demonstration. Audience participation is encouraged, making this a unique opportunity to engage directly with living cultural traditions.
