Crow Reservation -- Teepees and Indians (Sweat Lodge)

This painting relates directly to a handsome dusk scene titled Preparing for the Medicine Sweat, #19 and a sketch, #99.

The scene was staged just outside Sharp's Crow Agency, Montana studio to the south.  The large teepee on the right was a buffalo hide teepee Sharp purchased from the Blackfeet in 1905.  He used it frequently as a secondary studio and a prop.
