This painting under the title of Dance Chief (with Slackers) was first exhibited at the Hotel Gibson Galleries in Cincinnati in 1921 in a show referred to simply as Indian Paintings. It later appeared in 1927 at The Schroeder Galleries in Pasadena as Dance Chief and Slackers.
