Little Nest - Crow

Little Nest was one of Custer's scouts. In a note supplied to Frank Phillips at the time of the sale of this canvas in 1939, Sharp praised such men for their braveness, "smartness and reliability." (Woolaroc archives)

Little Nest had at least two sittings with Sharp. Another portrait of him, dating from about the same time, is in the Gilcrease Museum collection. (see related image, #418)
