Sharp painted at least four versions of Wolf Ear's portrait around 1900. (see for example, related images, #346 and 555) Four such works were exhibited at the Cincinnati Museum in 1900 and again at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC in 1901. The Smithsonian Institution purchased its version from the latter venue.
