(Sharp Papers) The dating of this work is problematic.  The inscription is poorly written and has been interpreted as 1932.  However, Sharp was not painting such portraits nor inscribing them with titles in 1932. Here, Sharp’s signature is clear though, and the "J" is crossed at the top, a style that he used in his early work but which seems to have disappeared after about 1903. This appears to be from one of  his first summers among the Blackfeet, 1902, and is akin to the portrait of Mary Tailfeather – Blackfoot of the same period. (related image, #137)
