The East Gate of Yellowstone lies about an hour west of Cody, Wyoming. It’s an amazing drive with some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll find anywhere—including stunning canyon and river views, plenty of wildlife, and less traffic than other gates into Yellowstone Park. Enjoy a number of stops on this drive like the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, Buffalo Bill Dam Visitor Center, the Buffalo Bill Reservoir, Pahaska Tepee Lodge, and Sleeping Giant Zipline.
About Cody, Wyoming
Cody, Wyoming is the largest gateway city into Yellowstone National Park. While other towns might be closer to the Park, Cody offers the most in terms of museums, restaurants, live music, historical sites, and outdoor activities. Visit five world-class museums, eat an authentic cowboy chuckwagon dinner, shop in the downtown district, and enjoy comfortable lodging and plenty of scenic mountain views. Cody is the hub for arts, culture, and nightlife near Yellowstone!

Most travelers to the area recommend spending two nights and one full day in Cody, either at the beginning or the end of your Yellowstone adventure. Rest up and see what there is to see before you head into Yellowstone, or spend a long last day in the park and enjoy a day in Cody before you head back home to break up the driving.
