Join Dr. Aura Sunada Newlin, Executive Director of the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation, for a compelling Local Lore presentation exploring the history and legacy of the Heart Mountain incarceration site and the experiences of Japanese Americans imprisoned there during World War II.

As both a scholar and a descendant of Heart Mountain incarcerees, Dr. Newlin brings a rare combination of academic insight and personal connection to this history. Her presentation will examine how the stories born at Heart Mountain continue to shape conversations about citizenship, identity, civil liberties, and remembrance in the American West.

Thoughtful, timely, and deeply rooted in place, this program offers an opportunity to engage with one of the region’s most significant historical landscapes through the voice of someone whose own family history is inseparable from it.
