The Image Rights and Reproductions Department at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West provides images for educational presentations, professional research, print and electronic publications, media projects, and personal use. All requests for images MUST be made in writing using a request form (see below). Permission for such use is granted at the sole discretion of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

Digital Files
JPEGs files at the standard resolution of 72ppi @ 8×10 output size will be provided for Web and other electronic uses; TIF files at the standard resolution of 400 dpi @ 8 x 10 output size will be provided for print use or for use in film production. All files are provided via electronic delivery with a $5 handling fee.

Request Processing and Terms of Use
Once your request is received in writing, the order turn-around time is generally 3–4 days with a non-guaranteed date of delivery. Following receipt and approval of your complete request, we send you an invoice and a Rights & Reproductions Agreement. The invoice must be paid in full, and the Rights & Reproductions Agreement signed and received before an image is released to you.
Reproduction is for one-time use only. Photographs may not be cropped, bled off the page, or otherwise altered in any way. All image(s) must be identified by the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Credit Line. The applicant’s oversight of the conditions for reproduction may result in the assessment of additional fees. A complimentary copy of the product must be provided to the Image Rights & Reproduction Office of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West at time of release.
Copyright Restrictions
Artists or designated assignors may retain copyright to collection items in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s collections, which are protected under U.S. copyright laws, and applicable international treaties. In some cases a signed document of permission may be required from the copyright owner before the Image Rights & Reproductions Office can process your request. Any and all royalty payments or other requirements specified by the copyright owner of an item in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s collections must be adhered to by the reproduction rights applicant.
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West assumes no responsibility for any claim against the reproduction rights applicant or the Buffalo Bill Center of the West by an artist, his/her agent or estate, or any other party in connection with the reproduction of works in the collections of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Inquiries regarding permission to publish images of items in Buffalo Bill Center of the West collections should be directed to the Image Rights & Reproductions Office. In all cases, unauthorized use of images of works in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s collections is prohibited. No image of any of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s collections items may be reproduced, published, stored, or transmitted in any form or by any means without prior written permission from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.
