Sculpture Guide: Buffalo Bill—Plainsman
Buffalo Bill—Plainsman
By Bob Scriver
1976
Location: Front of the building
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West (then the Historical Center) commissioned Montana artist Bob Scriver to design a bronze sculpture depicting William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Scriver started by conducting research and decided to portray him as a western hero and gentleman, wearing his Wild West show attire and holding a rifle.
Standing at the front entrance to the Center, the sculpture invites visitors inside to experience the legacy of the West that he treasured.
