A painting by this title was exhibited at Cincinnati's Traxel Art Galleries in 1924 and again in 1925.  It was listed as the second offering out of 40 works for sale in the first display and third in the second exhibit, indicating that Sharp considered it an important work.  

Sharp found this subject to be most attractive during the first years of the 1920s. Ceremonial Songs was something of a follow-up to a similar work, Ceremonial Song for the Return of the Buffalo of 1923 which had enjoyed a good deal on critical acclaim in the press. (related image, # 279)
