What better way to learn about the past than to hike through it?
Exclusive Tours at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West is teaming up with Hiking Buddy LLC to bring visitors into the beautiful vistas and historic trails of the American West. Join us on September 24 for a moderate trek through breathtaking landscapes of northwest Wyoming while diving into the region’s history.
This inaugural Exclusive Tours & Trails event begins at the Center of the West at 1 p.m. September 24 and then wind its way west with stops at Colter’s Hell, Old Marquette Overlook, and then a hike to a historic cabin tucked into the mountains. We’ll trace the footsteps of native peoples, homesteaders, and pioneers that left their marks across the area. We expect to return to the Center around 5:30 p.m. or a bit later.
This isn’t just a walk—it’s an interactive hike through time that will get your blood pumping! Engage with your guides, ask questions, enjoy the views, and join a trek that brings history to life. Shared transportation to the trailhead is available, and participants can enjoy complimentary trail snacks, water, and hiking poles for the duration of the event.
The hike is four miles round trip and includes short distances with steep inclines and declines, intermittent shade, and beautiful views. Immerse yourself in the splendor of the Cody area’s natural landscapes as we traverse trails that wind through rugged terrain, wild sagebrush desert, and picturesque canyons.

Meet your guide
A Cody local and owner of Hiking Buddy LLC, Dave Leo is an insured, certified, and permitted hiking guide in northwest Wyoming with decades of experience in guiding hikes. He is trained in first aid and CPR, and the Cabin Crawl trek is one of his go-to trails. For this event, he joins Exclusive Tours staff in creating a one-of-a-kind experience in Yellowstone Country.
