Sundown Dance and Hunting Son, Taos

This was a popular subject for Sharp in the mid-1920s. Different than the other two or three paintings of the Taos Pueblo's Sunset Dance, this one features a bold profile portrait of Hunting Son attired in Sharp's favorite Sioux bonnet.  The Taos Pueblo and the dance figures provide but a muted backdrop for Hunting Son. That background scene is quite similar to the others, related images, including #s 493 and 239.
