The Mourners; [Dividing the Chief

This appears to be the finished version of a smaller, unsigned oil from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West's collection ( #1) and another smaller signed version at the Gilcrease Museum. (#429)  According to available records, this large version was first exhibited as The Mourners and illustrated in the catalogue for Indian and Western Paintings, Gibson House, Cincinnati, 1915.
