Stories of the Old West told in a new way! Join Exclusive Tours and “Legends of the Old West” podcast hosts Chris Wimmer and sister Mandi Wimmer for this Deluxe Tours and Toddies on August 2.
At this special program, you’ll embark on a journey filled with mystery, intrigue, and larger-than-life legends as we explore the Center of the West’s collection and delve deeper into the history of the summer of 1876.
Explore the notorious summer of 1876 in the American West and related artifacts from our Center’s collection. The historic season intertwined tragedy, triumph, innovation, and intrigue within the timelines of several famous western characters. From “nobodies” to “legends,” many Old West outlaws, lawmen, Native Americans, showmen, and burgeoning organizations found their foothold in history during this wild summer season.
Chris Wimmer, the author behind The Summer of 1876, and Mandi Wimmer, co-owner of Black Barrel Media, recount their experiences with the research and unexpected discoveries that shaped the evolution of their projects. Chris and Mandi also discuss their work on the “Legends of the Old West” podcast, including a recent season that featured our own William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody and the legends of his life.
After spending time in the museums, you’ll return to the Exclusive Tours Depot for charcuterie, homemade desserts, adult beverages, and Q&A with Chris and Mandi.
Each person who registers for this Deluxe Exclusive Tours and Toddies also receives a copy of Chris’s book, The Summer of 1876, which he will be happy to sign!
It is particularly fitting to host this Exclusive Tours & Toddies event on the 148th anniversary of James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok’s passing on August 2, 1876!
This event is now sold out. Spots were limited and advanced registration was required. This experience is $75 per person, and just $70 per person for the Buffalo Bill Center of the West members.
