A Building for the Greater Yellowstone Raptor Experience!
Things are moving right along here for the Raptor Experience. We have two birds lined up for the program and the mews are starting to look like a real building. I am often asked by other staff members here at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, “where are the birds going to live?” Everyone is expecting a spot right in plain sight of the public, but they are mistaken. We intentionally chose a location that was hidden from public view. It will be the birds’ sanctuary—the place where they can feel safe and at home (yes, even birds need this) where people won’t be constantly staring at them.
Each bird has the ability to get in or out of the sun, natural exposure to the elements (like a gentle Wyoming breeze), various perches to choose from, a nice bath, and a guaranteed meal. If you ask me, that sounds like a pretty good deal!
