Ned Frost: Early Day Photographs of Yellowstone Country

A free talk by Bob Richard

Thursday, March 17, 2022
Noon–1 p.m.

Join us for the March presentation in our “Local Lore with Bob Richard” series of free talks hosted by our McCracken Research Library.

In an illustrated talk titled Ned Frost: Early Day Photographs of Yellowstone Country, Bob presents photographs by his uncle Ned, many of which have never been published before. Through these photos, taken between about 1905 and the 1950s, Bob shares stories from the history of Cody and Yellowstone country.

With a wealth of knowledge about the Cody and Yellowstone National Park areas, Bob has a lifetime of stories to share with future generations. The “Local Lore with Bob Richard” series continues monthly throughout the year.

The talks in this series are gathered in this YouTube playlist.

The Frost and Richard base of operations near Clark, Wyoming, around 1906–1908. They ran several trap lines throughout the area, from Heart Mountain to Line Creek, processing the pelts of wolves, coyotes, martins, foxes and anything else that had good fur. Ned ran the trapline while Fred Richard would skin and process the animal pelts. The money they earned from this allowed them to purchase and build the Frost & Richard Ranch on the Northfork.
